A Sucker For The Anthemic.

I’m just a complete and utter sucker for any of the following: a piano intro; a slowly-building song; a slight falsetto; lighters-in-the-air moments in songs.

Damn you, Colour Academy. Damn you.

Colour Academy, or Moses as they are now known, are a 5 piece (now 4 piece) band from Alabama who have deliberately gone out of their way to produce music with the sole intention of getting on to my website.

Well, not really. They’ve just got a song that ticks all the above boxes.

Sure, it’s a little derivative, but there is a little something-something to “Through Telescopes”. After leaving this in a playlist of about 25 or 30 songs, each time this came on, someone in the room would ask “Who’s this? It’s good…” I’m not sure how that reflects on the rest of my music collection, but…

Today, you can say what you want to say
Be who you want to be and change your mind
Today, you can do what you want to do
Believe what you want to believe, and tell your side

But I will not be moved
To give up all my hope
And I refuse to watch
My life through a telescope

Awake, two hands on a pouring face
Our lives at a speeding pace in a heartbreak line
Today, a sound in a quiet place
A light in a darkened state will change our lives

And I will not be moved
To give up all my hope
And I refuse to watch
My life through a telescope

So won’t you come with me
So we can find our way
We started hand in hand
And finish still the same

We’ve been run to death
We’re visitors at my wake
So this will be my best
I give to you today

I will not be moved
To give up all my hope
And I refuse to watch
My life through a telescope
