Instead, Jón Þór Birgisson, or Jónsi as he’s more commonly known, has instead released an absolutely pounding, heart-stopping, wrenching, overwhelming song of absolute and utter joyousness.

Is it any wonder that a collaborator on his upcoming solo album “Go” has described his songs as “ecstatic”?

I’ve posted about Sigur Rós before – a longtime fan, I’ve watched them produce more and more uplifting music (but always, always affecting), and I can honestly say I don’t think there’s another band like them that I’ve come across. And from Jónsi’s releases to date, he’s proving himself to be (in my eyes) one of the most original musicians working today.

Jónsi’s album will be his first major venture into English-language lyrics, and going by the first couple of single releases, it will be original, if a little unorthodox for everyone. So I give you “Go Do”. Loud. Happy. Foot-tapping. Hand-clapping. Charge-out-of-your-house-hug-strangers-and-achieve-your-dreams-inspirational.

More simply, ecstatic.
