Finally. Finally. FINALLY! June 19, 2009

I give you one of the most haunting, spine-chilling, affecting songs of 2009. Even of the 2000’s. Florence and the Machine’s “Cosmic Love”, currently finding an audience through being featured on an O2 ad. As soon as I heard this for the first time many weeks ago, I spent hours trying to track down the song, to no avail. But now – finally.

With the voice of Kate Bush. Of Bjork. With the ability to paint soundscapes of Tom Waits. Of Nick Cave. With music that features harps, choirs, drums, string quartets, sighing, electronic wailing.
Soaring. Epic. Heart-breaking.
Even simply reading the lyrics will give you chills.
It’s time to lose yourself. This will affect you deeply.
A falling star fell from your heart and landed in my eyes
I screamed aloud, as it tore through them, and now it’s left me blindThe stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I’m always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heartAnd in the dark, I can hear your heartbeat
I tried to find the sound
But then it stopped, and I was in the darkness,
So darkness I becameThe stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I’m always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heartI took the stars from our eyes, and then I made a map
And knew that somehow I could find my way back
Then I heard your heart beating, you were in the darkness too
So I stayed in the darkness with youThe stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I’m always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heartThe stars, the moon, they have all been blown out
You left me in the dark
No dawn, no day, I’m always in this twilight
In the shadow of your heart

The song is amazing, no words to describe how incredible is the sensation to listen to it. Her whole cd is just…breathtaking. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for this, Josh – but don’t want to get anyone in trouble!
Haha – man, it is amazing how you always manage to dig out the stuff that I love. Just the other day in the cinema (The Dublin O2 spot, right?) I thought – my god, this gives me the shivers. And now, what do I see?
