Now I Don’t Feel So Bad. July 20, 2008

Posted by admin in : Articles , trackback

I thought it was just me.

I fully acknowledge that my tastes are hard to change, and I tend to gravitate back to my old favourites again and again.

But now I see it’s the same the world over. On a music forum I haven’t visited in months, populated by the “cool kids” who like to fit every band into a genre (even it necessitates making a new genre up…), and quickly run away from a band if the “hipsters” like them (aside: The description of hipster culture includes:

This includes listening to independent rock or any form of non-mainstream music

Then, how can a group of people want to stay away from listening to the music the hipsters like, since this is the same as wanting to stay away from listening to the music the people who listen to non-mainstream music like. And the people who want to stay away from listening to the music the hipsters like are also the people who listen to non-mainstream music. Ergo, everyone’s a hipster)
